In the framework of the Educational Exchange Programme launched by our IBDP Department with Jyväskylän Lyseon lukio IBDP, one of the most prestigious schools in Central Finland, a group of 10 students and 3 teachers from Finland visited our school, from March 30th to April 5th. During their stay they attended classes on a daily basis and participated in various educational and cultural activities organized by our department. Finnish students have been hosted by their Greek peers in their homes thus having the chance to familiarize themselves with the Greek everyday life and culture.
Students from both schools participated in a common CAS activity, i.e. a workshop on traditional greek dances, got acquainted with the greek flora while strolling through the gardens of Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center where they were also guided in the National Library and National Opera, enjoyed guided tours on the Acropolis monuments and the Acropolis Museum, visited the IBDP Visual Arts exhibition at Blender Gallery, walked through the tiny streets of Anafiotika and had a farewell dinner with live Greek music in Plaka.
We are grateful to all IBDP teachers who welcomed the guest students in their classes. Special thanks to the PE teacher at our school Mr Sakis Tsagkogiannis and our CAS Coordinator Mrs Natasa Papathanasiou for organizing the Greek dances workshop. The Educational Exchange Programme, which included the visit of our students to Lyseon in Finland during the 1st week of March as well as the visit of the students from Lyseon to our school in Athens, has been designed, organized and carried out by the following members of the IBDP Faculty: Erifylli Bagia, Marina Koutsoubou and Ilias Liakatas.
